Sunday Services

Sunday Services have a special place in our hearts at Sacred Journey Fellowship. It is the time we come together to reaffirm our body of fellowship. It can sometimes be a time of teaching or directed self reflection. It is always open to the public. It is an easy going time, with no dress code.

Topics vary but always are gounded in the knowlege that we are a Unitarian Universalist fellowship that enjoys exploring the world around us in the tradition of great UU leaders while never forgetting that our foundation is Earth-Centered.

Some of the things you will see in every Sunday Service are:

  • Our Welcoming - this is where we acknowlege what makes us UU and what makes us Earth-Centered by telling everyone present about our fellowship
  • Affirmation - this is a statement we read aloud together to help us all be on the same page as a fellowship
  • Establishing Sacred Space - the method we use to do can vary greatly from service to service, but the purpose is always the same. This is how we help all present move from the cares and concerns of the daily world, into a place more focused on the Divine in some form. This can include but is not limited to a call to the elements, and a call to deity (usually our Patron for the year) and this always includes a lighting of our chalice.
  • An Offering - We are a busy fellowship, that is involved in Social Justice issues, seeks to provide classes, convenant groups, and a lending library to the community at large. The way we make this happen is by the genorous contributions of both money and service made by our members and friends. This is the point in our service that we honor those gifts.

Some things you might see in a Sunday Service include:

  • A teaching time - where one member or guest speaker shares information with the group
  • A Meditation time - where the group is led to explore the inner world
  • Chanting - songs repeated to help us focus and / or to raise engery to some purpose
  • Drama - used to illistrate a point
  • Storytelling - to help us see the world from a different point of view
  • Small Group work - to allow us to work together to reach a common goal
  • and anything else we thing will aid that service's intent
