SJF Program Budget Categories

The idea of creating a Program Focused Budget is based in the idea of putting our money where are heart is instead of just talking about keeping the lights on.  Every thing we do would be either put into one of the following categories or divided across several of them.  As we look at last years budget and how we spent our funds, and as we talk about how we will do this next year; we will be talking about what percentage of the SJF pie is being spent where.  We will be working to make sure that we are doing enough to Develop or Deepen each of our Faith or Spiritual Journey (Faith Development), Grow a Health Fellowship Body (Membership), Build a better world (Community Service) while making sure that we are spending a reasonable amount of our resources on stewardship of our resources (Stewardship) and not letting ourselves become committee obsessed (Administration). 

1.  Administration - committee meetings and other activities to keep the church running

2.  Stewardship - Care of building, grounds and assets.  Offering and time spend on offering and pledge record keeping

3.  Faith Development - All aspects of spiritual growth & worship including Faith Development classes & covenant groups

4.  Membership - All things done to draw in future and missing members as well as activities designed to build strong bonds between members.  Common Interest Covenant Groups (UUA term is Affinity Groups) and social functions are included here.

5.  Community Service - These are classes and services we offer to the community, and Social Justice projects.  Things we do to create a better world.  Examples of ongoing programs at SJF would include our Lending Library, 1st Plate, Food Drives and more.
